The Challenge is a prize competition that “seeks solutions that reduce the transmission of the coronavirus among people living with kidney disease and/or reduce the risk of kidney damage among people who contract the virus.” It is open to all individuals and is focused on patient-centric solutions that can be implemented with minimal resources and reduce the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable communities.
Two rounds are anticipated, but a third round may occur.
- Round 1: Submissions will be accepted between Nov. 6, 2020 and Dec. 4, 2020 before 5pm ET. Winners will be announced in Jan. 2021.
- Round 2: Submissions will be accepted between Dec. 9, 2020 and Jan. 20, 2021 before 5pm ET. Winners will be announced in Feb. 2021.
Up to $300,000 in total prizes are available. Winners will receive $20,000 and honorable mentions may also receive awards. More details are available in the official challenge announcement.
