The Senate passed, by roll call vote (84-10), H.R. 8337, a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) to extend federal government funding through December 11, 2020. The CR now heads to President Trump’s desk, where he is expected to sign the stopgap measure in order to avert a government shutdown.
Overall, the CR would appropriate funding for fiscal year (FY) 2021 at current FY 2020 funding levels through December 11, 2020. In addition, the CR would make several policy changes to provide additional financial relief from the COVID-19 pandemic to Medicare providers and beneficiaries. The CR also includes provisions that would reauthorize a number of expiring health-related programs through December 11, 2020; offsets to federal spending; additional nutrition assistance; among other policy changes.
