Summary

Extends the rural ground ambulance add-on (1%), the super rural ambulance add-on (2%) and the air ambulance add-on and reclassifications through 2010.

On July 8, 2013, CMS released its CY14 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed regulation, which delineates proposed payment changes to physician payments, in addition to effectuating ACA-authorized requirements consistent with these statutory provisions of the law.  Comments on the underlying proposed regulation are due by September 6. A CMS press release is available here.

SEC. 3105. EXTENSION OF AMBULANCE ADD-ONS. (a) GROUND AMBULANCE.—Section 1834(l)(13)(A) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395m(l)(13)(A)) is amended—øAs would be revised by section 10311(a)¿ (1) in the matter preceding clause (i), by striking ‘‘2010’’ and inserting ‘‘2011’’; and (2) in each of clauses (i) and (ii), by striking ‘‘January 1, 2010’’ and inserting ‘‘January 1, 2011’’ each place it appears. (b) AIR AMBULANCE.—Section 146(b)(1) of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (Public Law 110–275) is amended øAs would be revised by section 10311(b)¿ by striking ‘‘December 31, 2009’’ and inserting ‘‘December 31, 2010’’. (c) SUPER RURAL AMBULANCE.—Section 1834(l)(12)(A) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395m(l)(12)(A)) is amended øAs would be revised by section 10311(c)¿ by striking ‘‘2010’’ and inserting ‘‘2011’’.
