Funds continue to be expended under the reauthorization of this program for which there is an appropriation through FY 2014.  To view the latest funding opportunity, see here.  For more about the program, refer to HRSA’s main homepage for the program.

On January 9, 2013, HRSA posted a new grant opportunity for programs improving the quality of emergency medical services furnished to children. The deadline to apply is April 9, 2013.

According to the EMSC National Research Center, on Sept. 12, 2013, HRSA awarded six EMSC Targeted Issue grants.  Details here.

On a related note, on June 13, the IOM released a report titled, “The Impacts of the Affordable Care Act on Preparedness Resources and Programs – Workshop Summary,” which summarizes the proceedings of a November 2013 IOM Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Catastrophic Events (additional details here).

2015

On Dec. 3, HRSA posted the Emergency Medical Services for Children Targeted Issues Program (HRSA-16-053) funding opportunity.

2016

In December 2016, PCORI announced that its Board of Governors approved nearly $42 million to fund 19 new studies comparing which healthcare approaches work best.

2017

PCORI developed a draft Policy for Data Access and Data Sharing and requested input from stakeholders. The deadline for submitting comments was Jan. 23. The intent of the draft policy was to set forth expectations and guidelines for PCORI research awardees for management of their data in order to: (1) facilitate reproduction of original analyses to increase the integrity of PCORI-funded research findings; and (2) promote data sharing to enable conduct of additional analyses using data from PCORI-funded studies, thereby augmenting the knowledge generated from the original studies.

In January 2017, PCORI announced funding opportunities for investigator-initiated applications for patient-centered CER projects for Cycle 1 2017.  PCORI was looking for ideas for addressing needs of patients, caregivers, clinicians and other healthcare stakeholders in personalized clinical decision-making.  Letters of intent were due on Feb. 14.

In February, PCORI announced that it restructured its Pipeline to Proposal (P2P) program from three tiers of funding to two tiers, shortening the timeline from 33 months to 21 months.  PCORI stated that it plans to make as many as 50 first tier awards of $50,000 each, which will pay for 12 months of partnership development.
